Ever since I started shooting handguns, I've gravitated toward Glocks. Not because they're pretty (although quite utilitarian), but because we've chosen a platform that has great aftermarket support. Now at a "stock" Glock, the others have invariably picked up parts from Lone Wolf Distributors, which is the biggest name in Glock parts.

On my competition pistols I have Lone Wolf conversion barrels, Lone Wolf polished guide bars, and a multitude of other parts such as Dawson sights, etc. However, none of the weapons had a Lone Wolf trigger, as this was the last Lone Wolf component. they still had work to do to complete their large backlog of parts (they say they support over 10,000 SKUs). In fact, my competition guns currently have ZEV's full set of Fulcrum triggers.

Knowing this, Lone Wolf thought they were willing to send one of their new Ultimate Adjustable Triggers (UATs) packed with a 3.5-pound connector and a 6-pound spring for our critical review. So is the UAT replacing the ZEV? Read below for our opinion and verdict.
For testing, the UAT was going to be installed in my Glock 22 and Glock 23. Both are fired regularly and are my two everyday, general defense weapons. It's common for me to shoot them with 9mm Lone Wolf conversion barrels and then stock them from the factory with .40 S&W barrels.
The trigger and parts arrived lightly packed, with the UAT in a heat-sealed plastic bag and the spring and disconnector in standard ULINE small parts packaging. Everything is utilitarian and dare I say inspired by the factory packaging of the weapon they will be installed in. The adjustment hex key is included with the trigger, which is a small bug.
If you know how to take apart a Glock, installation is a no-brainer. For those that don't, remove three pins, remove the trigger assembly from the gun, and begin replacing parts. Given the plethora of YouTube videos that appear alongside the narration, I'll spare you the details, but suffice it to say that everything comes together as promised.

From the factory, the trigger is not adjusted to make sure the small hex screws are inside the trigger. Firing it for the first time was reliving a standard Glock draw, but this time with a comfortable shooting shoe, if a little softer. I wasn't impressed, but I had hope for what it might be.
Adjustment is simple. Using the small hex key included, I went straight to work on the pre-travel, inserting the key into the front of the trigger while it was still in the frame. Leaving the passive safety on, I adjusted the bolt until it wouldn't let me adjust it any further. At this point, the trigger cannot be pulled because the passive safety cannot rotate out of the way. From there, I readjusted it so that the passive safety would disengage when my finger lightly touched it.
The pull was now significantly shorter and felt great on the finger, but the top travel was present. In contrast to the ease of adjustment before the trip, overloading was significantly more difficult. Although it can still be adjusted to the frame, the user must use the short section of the hex key and get behind the trigger inside the housing. Easier said than done, as everything is by feel. Once inserted, the user can only adjust about 15-25 degrees of rotation. As such, I unfolded the trigger, used my judgment and rotated it to 90% of the correct place, and then put the finishing touches on it during installation.
Now adjusted, the trigger and accompanying accessories were put into action. Long gone is the "Glock" trigger and in its place was a very nice tactile experience. If I had to compare it to anything, it was like the ALG QMS trigger for the AR-15. A light amount of pre-travel and a steady, short, firm draw until the break. According to the Lyman digital trigger gauge, the pull remained constant at around 5.5 pounds, even with the lightest connector and heaviest spring.

Running the drills on the field was much more enjoyable. The trigger makes it easy to feel the strongest pull and with a clean squeeze releases the shot smoothly. Compared to the stock trigger, it sped up my accurate shooting and I was a little more accurate in speed drills. Boy, what a difference a trigger can make.
As I mentioned above, I have two sets of ZEV's Fulcrum trigger kit and enough to see, the UAT is a cut above that in terms of fit. ZEV kit requires frame disassembly. But, the trigger pressures couldn't be more different.
The UAT is a shorter, heavier ride, while the ZEV is a smoother, lighter, longer experience. The UAT is perfect for carrying, but I like the lighter weight of the ZEV as it keeps me on target when going full tilt during the 3-gun. That said, it can be so easy that during a fight or flight situation, I can have a sloppy discharge.
** Kudos to Lone Wolf engineers. My main beef with the ZEV trigger is shooting from the starting position. The ZEV's passive safety requires the trigger to be held well beyond what is necessary to reset the trigger. While not a problem during competition where the reset is done, it is annoying and shows that the engineering has not been completed. The UAT's passive security breakpoint has just been reset, eliminating unnecessary drag.

So for me, I'm happy to have both triggers. The UAT complements the ultimate general and duty shooter, the competition-specific ZEV, but don't discount the UAT if you choose to polish the firing pin safety, lighten the mainspring, and replace the firing pin as a complete ZEV kit. promotions
However, the UAT is much more comfortable. The ZEV has a flat face with a curved arc, the UAT has a radiused edge on both sides.
Having put hundreds of rounds through the UAT, I am quick to recommend it. The adjustable trigger is great value for what you get, though I'd like to see some colors (at least black and red, please). Also, I would recommend buying it with the kit itself, otherwise a shooter just makes a shorter Glock stock run, not a solid scope in my book.
Now, the UAT is not replacing the ZEV in my competition guns, but it is firmly in my EDC, which is probably a higher compliment. The ZEV kit may be smoother and lighter, but the pull is longer. The heavy, visible wall of the UAT makes a much better Glock, which is, to me, what the Glock was meant to be.

For $74.95, the UAT is a bargain. Adding the spring and plug brings the upgrade to a reasonable $87 before shipping. That total beats any other aftermarket trigger I know of.
