Assault Intercessors Datasheet - With the marine code in the space, I can analyze the parts inside it correctly. While I'm going to write the entire code, I can only use what I have... and I'm sure almost everyone has, so I'll start with the Intercessors (aka the Primaris Legion).
As a caveat here, this is just a guideline. The first and most important rule is "have fun" and the second is "play with your boys". This is just to alert you to any challenges you may encounter or tricks you can do with the locations you need. The third important rule is: "Most people on the Internet make mistakes, especially bloggers." If you find something wrong, please let me know in the comments below.

As far as combat units go, they're not bad. Most punishments are difficult, but persistence against all odds is not. Their weapons are enough to test the morale of all other base troops while also taking down some powerful units.
Warhammer 40k: Assault Intercessors Vs Reivers
Although they lack the special weapons of tactical marines, the secondary grenades they carry usually turn a situational weapon into a semi-decent special weapon. As far as I can tell, it's a free upgrade too! * They are also the second best choice for assault troops due to more attack, with Templars and Black Crusaders being number one.
In a quick analysis I've done against firemen, they're fairly balanced in terms of point cost, and their durability is a very strong point for them. If you're looking for a place to grab targets and hold them securely, then these are your guys... maybe Guilliman made them!

While Scouts can be more objective about campers with their camera jackets and sniper rifles, Interceptors work best for moments when you need to capture something out in the open. Scouts really need a cover save to be as tough as terminal, and replacements just absorb damage.
Working On Converting The Assault Intercessors From Indomitus Into Regular Intercessors. Thought I'd Try To Make It Look Like They Are Actually Making Use Of Those Assault Weapons. Thoughts?
If you want these guys to have a great objective camp, go with Wharton Raven Tactics. You can use their Stratagem to get them where you need them during deployment, and they also benefit from Head Tactics. You could probably try using a stock bolt action rifle to compete with this picture, but I'll explain why that's not a good idea later.
This ability to soak up damage makes them great defenders for Hell Plates or tanks. I had a commenter talk about how his Vindicator was stuck in a fight with infantry and couldn't escape for the rest of the game. A guard unit standing on an infantry attack fixes this.
Ultramarines are one of the best mid-range defenders, using their retreat tactics and combining fire with destroyer cannons! Don't forget that they can attack as much as some attack infantry, so the attack phase isn't wasted!
Your other troop selection unit is good old tactical squads, but they're not like patrons (yet!). They are more flexible as shown in the round shape and can seriously damage the target while absorbing some fire in the open. For the same price as Interceptors, you get a classic laz plasma equipped with a sergeant that uses synthetic plasma. But they do not burn like intercessors!

Instead of every 5 positions you can launch 1 auxiliary grenade. If you get 10, you can still drop one per shooting phase. So... use the Battle Squad trick and split them into two groups of 5 anywhere in the battle!
Order Tactics Almost all order tactics and strategies involve attackers.
I started the chapter tactics review with shooting tactics in mind, but to be honest, attackers work really well for melees too!
At this point, there's nothing more to MathHammer than choosing a tool. This is really easy to do since we're comparing options within a section (because we can leave out extras such as section tactics, grenade usage, and other special rules).
Heavy Intercessor Datasheet
If you plan on hand-to-hand combat, get a power sword for the sergeant. It's cheap, and helps people hack. I recommend getting a general purpose automatic bolt action rifle and a standard bolt action rifle for sitting on sites, and I'll explain why:
Starting with shooting, I've put together some charts showing the average performance of each gun type. If you play power levels...well, pick what you like, that's for the system!
We have to really look at the injury points in this line to know how effective this line is. We'd like to see a lower number here, meaning that the average injury per turn costs us less.
Although Stalker Bolt guns are better against targets with higher armor, I don't expect them to do much for them. Against relatively low-powered units like the Terminator, you'll do about three-quarters of the damage per shot...not more than the other two weapons, and actually less than a double-bolt rifle!
Secondhand 40k Assault Intercessors Nos
A bolt action rifle double action (15 inch) does a really good job, but not much better than that. By averaging the two-point efficiency values for both ranges, we get a higher value than the automatic rifle.
Frankly, from your point of view, a bolt action rifle is better. Its effective range is actually quite good and often useful. To illustrate this, here's a graphic:
Yes, bolt action rifles are taller, but only by 15 inches. After that, the automatic bolt rifle is carried over, and the remaining 9 inches are better. What the figures don't show is the added benefit of being forward on the shot, giving you some distance to the board when you need it.
This graphic really highlights the problem with the Stalker bolt action rifle. It only starts to outperform the others in 24-inch caliber, and even then it's not much better than a conventional bolt-action rifle. Frankly, an extra 6 inches of leg length can be offset by my interloper team as I get closer to my goal!
Start Competing: Blood Angels Tactics
Attack and Defense. I combine these two sections because they count the same in all cases. The only difference between each is the point value, so we can see what works best in each situation.
Unsurprisingly, cheap bolt-gun snipers are the most effective assault troops (slightly!). However, I'd say that if you're constantly under attack, firing an auto-bolt gun while moving forward will serve your needs better.
The Bolt Action Rifle averaged 70.1 at both ranges, making the Bolt Action Rifle the best assault rifle around. We're talking small differences!
Kind of dark, but you can usually expect your guards to die after two and a half turns in a row. But remember, this is an average... the big guns take them out with one shot, the little ones 5 or more (throughout the game).

Again, sniper bolt action rifles are cheaper and therefore more effective, making them the best choice for targeting.
All things considered, you have an automatic bolt action rifle versus a loose bolt action rifle. I recommend arming your offensive interceptors with automatic shutters and your defenses with bolts. If you don't like the idea of a heavy armored sniper, I'd skip the Stalker Bolt rifle.
Let me repeat it here. No one plays 40K as a cold math exercise, so if you like some "weak" options, go for it. I like the idea of an 8ft sniper in huge armor, and I like the same giants charging around with mini grenades everywhere. It's just to give people a better idea of how these things work on the table so you don't waste a ton of time on the model to get frustrated.
