John Panney, who took the reins at DBC in December shortly before the center closed due to COVID-19 mitigation efforts, used the time to get to know his staff and guide their reopening efforts.

"We renovated the entire facility from top to bottom, including the bowling balls, all surfaces and equipment," Pani said when asked to describe the process. "We have all made sure that we will be 100 percent mask compliant, (and) we have done and passed all the reopening inspections."

DBC is now open from 11am to 7pm. Thursday and Sunday, and from 11 a.m. at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Bowlers may compete on any other lane and are required to practice social distancing and wear masks at all times except when eating and drinking. The StrikeZone center is open for dinner.

Pani eventually worked at the corporate level for bowling companies including AMF and Brunswick, operating bowling centers across the United States. After her father took a job at the bowling center at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, Penny decided to follow in his footsteps and lead the military. bowling center He said he is happy to now run the center here at Fort Leonard Wood.

"Daugherty Bowling Center is a great bowling center," he said. "We have a very friendly staff and a great customer base. I want to develop new clubs and leagues, provide new specialties, develop extreme bowling and offer better food on our menu."

Money's experience makes him a welcome addition to DBC, according to former center manager Joe Manucci, who is now the superintendent at Piney Valley Golf Course.

"(John) comes to us with a deep knowledge of bowling and we are very excited to have him join the MWR team," Manucci said.

DBC now has a special already in place: the DBC Pizza Package, which includes two hours of bowling, shoe rental, a soda and a large pizza, available for $50 during regular business hours.

Regular bowling costs are $3.25 per game for adults and $2 for patrons 16 and under and 65 and over. Shoe rentals are $2.25 per person.

"We are looking forward to growing (and getting) back to normal with the community," Pani said. "Come check us out."
