KYIV, Aug 8 () - Ukraine launched a prolonged attack on a Russian military base and two bridges along the Dnipro River overnight, Ukrainian officials said on Monday.
Antonovsky Bridge Destroyed
The attack hit just two Russian crossings into a pocket of southern Ukrainian territory they hold west of the Dnipro River, Natalia Humenyuk, a spokeswoman for southern Ukraine, said.

"The result of the massacre is respectable, the Antonivskyi and Kakhovskyi bridges are destroyed," he said on television.
Ukraine's HIMARS attack also hit several military bases in the southern Ukrainian city of Melitopol early in the morning, killing soldiers and destroying equipment, the exiled mayor said.
"According to the original plan, significant military equipment has been destroyed," Mayor Ivan Fedorov wrote on Telegram.
The Minister of Defense of Ukraine said that two weeks ago in the Russian missile depot 50 were delivered by the US several HIMARS missiles, which Ukraine began to use in June.
